Hey, I have a 98 Plymouth Neon.
Every time my girlfriend and I get out of the car we get a shock!! Any Idea's?

they make a static ground stap just for this scenario....you can find them at a auto parts store. its a strap that hangs from the bottom of the car....every time you stop it grounds the car......XS

This is usually due to the clothes your wearing and fabric of the seat. From moving around while driving you build up the static. As mentioned those grounding straps may help, wearing different material clothes would help, and this is often blamed on the tires as well so different tires may help. You see this a lot more this time of year in the winter months when the air is very dry.

The easiest thing to do is to keep a hold of the door from the time you open it to get out, until you're outside shutting it.  You will not get shocked if you do this.
