Diff between constant 12v and switched

I'm hooking up a system in my brothers 1994 corolla and the diagram shows 4 wires coming into the reciever besides speakers a constant 12v a switched 12v an illumination and a ground i have to match those w/ the factory 3 others battery, ignition, and ground. obviously i know what the ground is but how and which do i match up on the ohers. please help im extreamly frustrated.

The Constant is a 12volt current that never shuts off. This allows the head unit to maintain its memory. Forgot to mention on your new head unit it might not have an illumination wire. In this case you do not have to connect the illumination wire in your factory harness to anything
