Does anyone have information about the 02 Xterra and its wiring for the speakers? I am trying to replace the factory speakers and would like to know which is positive and negative.
I just did that for my sister's 2000 Xterra. When you unplug the factory speakers from the harness at their install location, look at the plug. You should see a small - and + to let you know which wires to use. If I remember correctly, you need to look hard at the back side of the plug. The symbols are molded into the plastic. I think this will work for 2002 Xterras, but just check it out and let me know.

I checked the harness before and double checked after your post. There are no markings of any kind to indicate positive or negative. The whole system has changed since the 2000-01 models. I bought the adaptors that are supposed to just plug in and then connect to the speakers, but they are totally different. I've been checking around and no one knows much about the setup of the 02 X. So I just cut the wires and spliced (just wanted to make things easier for the future) and I'm in business in the rear, but still need to tweak a little. New problems though. First, the front door speakers. I'm having the same issue as the guy who posted about his Frontier and the way the speaker is housed in a pod to allow for clearance of the window. Second, I have an amp of sorts behind the radio that the wirs goes from the radio and to this amp, then out to the vehicle. If I add an aftermarket radio, do I still have to use this "amp"? It says made by Rockford Fosgate (but I don't have the Rockford system) and it has heat sinks on the back. So I'm assuming amp. I guess I'm gonna have to further my research before I jump into this install. First time I've had these issues, live was so easier before these fancy factory setups and joint ventures with aftermarket companies.
