Engine Noise, now popping

Im having a problem with my stereo and I need some help.

I have a 2000 Tahoe old body with a Kenwood KVT-815DVD head unit. A Kicker SX1250.1 powering 2 12" L7's and a Kicker SX700.4  powering 3 pairs of RS5 Coaxials.

I have my power lines runing down the right and the signal lines running down the left. I have had my system connected for about a year now with no problems. This past weekend I started up my truck and started getting heavy engine noise. I know engine noise can come from signal and power wires running next to each other. Along with the engine noise, I was hearing popping from the subs and my speackers were crackling. I pulled out my seats and check all my wires. They were all okay. After I reconnected both my amps and checked my grounds, there was no noise. Now that the engine noise is gone, my speakers and subs are very quiet and when in turn the key from on to off or shut off my truck, my speakers and subs make one big popping sound at the same time.

Any ideas on what the problem is or how to go about solving it? I have since reset both my amps hoping that maybe there was a problem with the settings, but still they speakers and subs are very quiet.

It sounds like you still may have a problem with a ground connection. Poor grounds are 95% of noise problems. Make sure the ground cables are clean and tight and not going through to the outside of the body. They will wick in corrossion. Check the vehicle's battery and ground connections too.

I have an optima yellow top, all secured cables. Im not getting engine noise anymore. all my speakers and subs are just really quiet now and they make pop sound as a turn the key off. Would a bad ground on 1 of the amps cause both sub and speaker amps to make the sound? I have 0 guage kicker power wire split to 4 guage less than 2 feet long going into each amp and each amp is grounded seperately with 4 guage less than 1 ft long.

It sounds more like a source related issue to me. Borrow a friends cd player and retest again.

It may be a turn on/off pop. This is mostly caused by the head unit not muting the audio output prior to shutting off. It may also be caused by a bad amp too. There is a possibility that it is induced into your RCA cables because of where they are run. Try different things to try and find out where the noise is coming from. Try disconnecting the RCAs at the amps and then at the radio to see if anything changes.

I just checked my ground cables for the amps again, now I have the engine noise back through my speakers and the on/off pop. With my engine running, i turned the power to my head unit off, and within about 10 seconds the engine noise stoped. With the head unit off, and the engine running, i then shut the engine off and still had the on/off popping.  With everything off, i unplugged the RCA cables from the amps and then started my engine. There was no noise, no thump when i turned it off either. I then connected the RCA cables back to the amps, and disconnected them from the brain on my head unit. I started the engine once again. There was no noise and no thump when i turned off the amp. So im guessing that the problem is spawning from my head unit correct?

Please help, I really appreciate the input you guys have given me.

yes its most likley a source issue ie the HU, you can eather put in a nother cd player and test if the problem persists. Or you can simply buy a LOC and install it for a new rca source.

I would suggest trying another head unit. Using a LOC may not fix the problem. Try and temporarily another headunit in with just power, ground and RCA out to see if the problem is gone. It may also be bad RCAs.
