Will 8 guage amp power wire work for replacing my power wires in my 1994 ford escort lx? Aftermarket wiring seems so much better than my stock stuff. I want to use 8 guage so I can save the 4 guage slots on my battery terminals to use for my amp (whenever I install it)

Will 8 guage work or should I use 4 guage? Right now its oem 8ish guage.

What's the output of your amplifier?  You should be fine, but it would still be good to tell us the output.

That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

I havent even bought the amp yet but it will be around 1000w. That is why I want to use the 4 guage output on the battery terminal for the amp.

Since the wire I have "stinger expert", is much more flexable than the oem crap, I dont see why it would hurt to replace the oem wire with superior wire.

If its a 1000w upgrading will be a good idea. I just thought you had some extra wire. Never hurts.

Use the 4 gauge for the upgrades. Remember that electricity is an algebra equation, what you do to one side, you must do to the other. You can run that 4 gauge line to the battery all you like, remember though that when the vehicle is running, it is not the battery that does the deed, it is the alternator. Thus upgrade the wires from the alternator to the battery to 4 gauge as well. Do a read on the main forum for "the big 3" and the "what is a proper ground" thread.
