I hope this is the right section, as I am new to this forum. I aplogize as I am a beginner I have a 94 Chevy Suburban 2500, 6.6 Desiel.
I want to put in a second cigarette lighter to plug a Dashlight into. I dont want to hardwire it becuase I would like it to still be removeable. Is there a cigarette lighter I can buy and wire in(and how?). Also can I put a rocker switch on the positive wire so I can leave the light plugged in all the time and just flip the switch to turn it on?
Thanks in advance

There are cigarlighter spliters you can buy that just plug into the oem cigar lighter or you can hardwire it if ya like. Or you can just get one from the junk yard and somehow mount it(If ya do that the middle is positive the outside is ground). And yes there is not problem putting in a rocker switch. Got alot of options.

Thanks, So can I use this and snip off the plug end, add the rocker switch to the postive, and then how would I connect this to the battery(or does it go to the fuse box?) Thansk Agian

They have auxillary cigarette lighters at walmart. All you would have to do is mount it and wire it like you described with the switch.  I would probably try and tap the positive on the exsisting cigarette lighter so that they would be on the same fuse.

Thanks agian. So I will cut both wires to the current lighter, then connect the new one by soldering all three wires? Correct? Thanks Agian.

Or you can just strip a small segment of the exsisting wire wrap your new wire around it, solder it, and then tape it with some good electrical tape.  YOu can ground it there too  by the same method or just ground it to some bare metal of the vehicle.
