Hi guys! I'm trying to compile a list of interesting facts on Car Audio/Video and Cell Phone Kits. I will use this to create a "Did You Know" section in our showroom containing some trivia on the products/brands available.

For example, first of it's kind, first manufactured dates, best selling, loudest, brandname origins/meanings etc. Ofcourse the source of the info is just as important.

I know it's easy enough to Google it, but only if you know what your looking for. The rare ones are not so easy to find. All help will be greatly appreciated! You might even learn something too!

Nicolas

If you are doing it for YOUR showroom you should probably consult your reps.

You wouldn't want to put Kicker trivia up on a board if you don't carry Kicker.  Your reps should know all the obscure details and 'did you know' type stuff.

Thanks for your input Kevin. We DO actually stock Kicker. And yeah, I could probably ask some of our suppliers for some info, but where's the fun in that? Besides, when it comes to statistics, I find it easier to believe reliable independent sources. If you know what I mean.

Stillwater came from where they are located. Stillwater, OK...

Thanks Trax for that amazingly interesting photo! Do you perhaps know what make that is or maybe what year that was manufactured in? I'd really like to know.

That gives me another idea! Maybe I could also create and display a timeline showing the evolution of the car stereo.
Yes, I think I will! Woo-hoo! And that oldschool "Pimp My Automobile" pic is definately going to be in there.

Exciting stuff!

Motorola made the first car radio.  https://www.motorola.com/automotive/why_motorola.html

Blaupunkt made the first FM car radio.  https://www.gspr.com/blau/_bl_history_fr.html

Here's a pic of the first Atwater Kent (in Philadelphia) aftermarket AM car radio.  (I saved the pic but can't find the source.)  Mounted under the dash with built-in speaker on bottom.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Thanks Stevdart for a great contribution. I appreciate it. Both Motorola and Blaupunkt have very interesting histories.
