What do i need for this project?

Hi, I am not really up to par with this information. I am very new, but heres what my new project is with my cars electronics.

I was talking to a friend that said he can install this for me, He was telling me THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, Which i know is absolute garbage. He told me i need relays and thats all basically. What i want to do is the following: When the door lock button is hit to lock, then step on the brake, then window up button and door lock again is all hit in that order, Electricity is then, and only then cut off to an object i have powered.

Basically, That order is what will cut the power off to a eletromagnetic lock i have mounted in my car that is always being powered. So what do you think is needed? Is this hard? I figured just a few relays, Throw them inline with the wires powering those items i named above and it should be done basically. If im right, wrong or whatever, Please let me know. Thank You

well....you could use just relays...but that would mean that you would have to hold all the buttons until the last one was pushed to activate it.

you couls use latching relays....but if they are activated and the sequence is not followed....they may remain energized..

best bet is with timers....all run thru eachother....you would need 3 timers for this to be simple.....then just set them for a short length of time....each one shorter than the first. if the sequence isnt done corectly...they all shut down.

I see a flaw in the design. Whatever you are trying to protect will be unprotected the second a thief kill the battery. It is going to be electromagnetic, what kind of current draws does the lock demand? With out knowing more I would say to rethink how you want to do this. An actuated deadbolt may be a better option.

The first thing that I would start with would be a pulse timer that would kill the entire circuit after a set amount of time so not to kill the battery. It may not matter if the actual lock kills the battery first.

This setup's success will depend on whether or not you choose NO or NC relays.

sorry auex, but I completely disagree with you there.  If you are really concerned about security you would have more than just little ideas like an alarm and lo-jack (i.e. shave the door handles so that they can't be frozen and broken off.)  Add another seperate battery for the task you are trying to accomplish and wire the positive and negative leads directly to that battery.  If the thief disconnects your battery, guess what.  He now has another issue to deal with, and if he tries to put power to the chassis, it will not short out and effect your electromagnetic switch as it is powered AND grounded by a completely seperate (and should be well hidden) battery.

Shaved door handles are illegal here in California. I would love to shave them here though.

REALLLLLLLY MELTED?  I did not know that, good to know as I was thinking about doing mine later.  What is the CVC on that if you don't mind?
