Hi folks. I'm in the process of opening up a mobile electronics shop and am hoping I can get some suggestions from current shop owners or anyone else that can help.

1) Prices.

Do you include the cost of harnesses, dash kits, etc. in your install prices or do you add that on seperately?

How do you determine your markup?

2) Display

How do you go about getting your 'PLP' stuff? I've noticed a lot of companies and distributors aren't big on giving us 'PLP'.

What do you usually keep in your live display?

3) Return Policy

I've been having a difficult time coming up with a return policy. What type of return/exchange policies is everyone using?

Any help would be appreciated!

For the return/exchange policy I'm thinking of doing store credit for unopened items and even exchange for defective items. I'm wondering if I should honor warranties through the shop. For example, an item with a 1yr warranty on it, should I have the customer send it back to the manufacturer after the 30 days?

I'm open to input from dealers and consumers alike.

What's plp?

From a consumer's standpoint, I'd feel more confident buying from a retailer that offered to send my equipment for warranty repairs rather than one that told me I'd have to send it in myself.
