Whats up everyone, here's the problem. I have a 98 civic ex that i just got 18's for, i put them on and when i drive it the tire rub on the fenders(not inside under but on the rim of the fender). Can i use coil over springs to adjust the height to make it higher or what can i do. All help is appreciated

get smaller rims. I bet 18s look pretty redivulous on it.

You can put coilovers on and it should work just fine. Or you could put a air ride system on it to give you the adjustment. Or if you dont want to do that you could see about geting your fenders rolled.

Just a few ideas i hope that this helps you. post some pics so we can see what it looks like.

There shouldn't be a problem with the 18's fitting on this Civic unless you went with a tire size greater than 215/35ZR/18 ?

What are the exact measurements of the wheels?   18 by what, and what is the offset. And what size tire did you use?

Those won't fit. 235 is too wide and you will not be able to turn very far before the rims starts rubbing the innder fender guard. As well, your speedo will be out by quite a bit because of this size tire.

They are still TOO tall.....they are the wrong size.  AND what are the wheel measurments? If they rub AT ALL....they are the incorrect size, it's that simple.

https://www.lesschwab.com/wheels/plussizing.asp Look at the wheel and tire sizes here.....from a 14 to an 18, and gained less than 1/4 inch. From where the wheel mounts to the car, thats 1/8 inch on top and 1/8 inch on the bottom. Thats acceptable in a +4. You have gained OVER 1.5 inches. That not gonna work. Speedo, milage, AND the actual miles on the OD. It's gonna get lousy milage, your gonna be goin 8% faster than the speedo shows, and you'll put more miles on it than you have actually traveled....not to mention, put a couple of your buddies in the car and go for a drive. The choice is ultimately yours, but I have provided you with enough information to help you see......it's the wrong choice. Your fenders are gonna look terrible with all those wrinkles in them too. You need a 215/35/18 to even come close to a proper fitment.

I've modified alot of Civic's in the past and knowing the way they are set up....... yours must look like a Tonka Truck ! If you haven't lowered the car yet, you WILL have issues with the tires rubbing once you lower the vehicle.

Respectable coilover brands are Skunk2, Eibach, Ground Control & Tein. Any one of these are great companies to go with but expensive.

My friend....these tires and wheels are the wrong size.....lift and lower all you want. They still are the wrong size.

Since this probably already looks rediculous, have you tried the old baseball bat trick?  take a wooden bat, put it on the tire and roll the car foward, letting the bat roll the fenders out.

get the right size wheel and tire combo. a 235/40 is nowhere even close to fitting on a civic.... and raising it would just look absolutely rediculous... more so than how it probably looks now with 18's and stock ride height. how wide are these rims and what offset??
