We have  customer with a 2006 H2 that wants the steering wheel air bad disabled.  She has a medical condition with her neck and said she heard somewhere that if you get a doctors clearance then you can legally have your air bag disabled?  I've never heard of this so was wondering if some of you guys have any info on this.  Thanks,,,,

Get the note...take it to your lawyer, and go from there! I myself wouldn't touch it for ALL the money in the world.

A desperate relative, after the car accident, sues you....the airbag would have saved her life...and has a better lawyer!!

Sounds like a dealership might be better suited for that. Not that you aren't capable but better it be on their ass!

make sure the insurance company has a copy of that paper work, you give then certified copy, if soemthign happens the insuran compnany dotn have to pay nothing. thi smay not be in all states. this relly dont have nothign to do with the shop as long as they have paper work on it, and yes let the dealer ship deal with it, but let the cousterm no about contact they insrance company.

When it comes to SRS system, if either one airbag is disabled, the entire system is disabled. You just can't select a particular airbag.

Get a release form drawn up by an attorney before you do it. There are always attorneys out there that can find their way around those though, I would pass on that job (personally).

No release will overrule federal law, it is illegal for a shop to purposely disable the SRS system. Don't do it and make her take it to the dealer who will tell her that if she can't be hit by an airbag that she shouldn't drive.

i dont entirely know, and anyone with any ideas chime in, but on my buick century, i have one airbag. if i take the fuse out of the fuse panel, i see the airbag light on, and im making only a general assumption that it effectively disables the airbag system. ive seen on other cars with two, like the dodge neon, and im sure each one controls a certain airbag. like i said, not completely sure, so feel free to correct. also, id see to it that a notice is put in with the vehicles paperwork/manual/ other source passed on with the vehicle so wherever the vehicle ends up after her, they know that an airbag has been disabled.
