I need to know if this vehicle has a a special ignition /chip in key system. I want to install a remote starter. If it does, what kind of system? What module can I use?

There is a small chip in the ignition key called a transponder. When the key is inserted into the ignition switch it sends a code to the vehicles computer through a receiver coil mounted to the barrel. Once the computer has identified it as a valid key, it enables the starter and fuel management systems. There are two types of bypasses out on the market right now, one needs a sprae key to be placed in line with the bypass module and the other does not require the spare key and uses an adjustable pot to dial in the correct resistance. Here are some advanctages of the NO KEY bypass modules:

  • Cost savings- The No Key Required Installation means big savings when you consider that factory programmed transponder ignition keys sell for as much as $150.00 each and that does not include the bypass kit and installation.
  • Security- Since no key is used in the bypass kit, the factory security is not as compromised compared to a bypass kit which requires a key be used in the installation kit.
  • Installation is faster on some vehicles since it is not required to place a wire or ring around or close to the factory systems receiver in the collar of the ignition switch.
  • Reliability: There is no parts (keys or rings) that may shift or move over time that will require re-installation. No keys that can freeze and prevent transmission of the proper ID code.
  • * Note- Freezing can prevent the transponder in a key from functioning properly, therefore bypass kits which require the use of an ignition key can have problems when attempting to remote start a vehicle that has been sitting idle in freezing conditions. The No Key Required bypass kits have a distinct advantage because they communicate directly with the vehicles engine management system and are not as adversely affected by freezing temperatures.
  • The MSRP for the keyless bypass modules are $ 55.00 USD. The price for the KEY REQUIRED bypass modules are $ 25.00 USD. We can get both of these for you if you want ?
