Hey everybody,

I've got a 94' Chevy Beretta that I just bought.  With me, I'm big on the stero and want to protect everything.  I've got a few questions about how I can go about making a few wiring connections and how to give the battery more power.

First off, I have a Viper 500ESP security system that my bro and I are installing.  We've got mostly everything figured out except the aux. Trunk Release.  Circut City sold me a trunk release relay; but the only problem is I have no clue how this connects into my Sec. System's brain, or how to wire it into the switch.  The Beretta's switch is located in the center console, at the very front end of it next to the Park gear on the Shifter.  When we pulled the pannel off, there is only a black and an orange wire connected to it.  The relay we bought has: Black, Red, Orange, Brown, and Yellow wires.  We think the black is ground and red's the constant power, but what about the orange yellow and brown?  Please help!

Secondly, I had power problems with my previous car all my stero stuff was installed in.  In a 92 Olds Ciera, I went through three batteries and one alternator before the power system righted itself.  Now I'm running a few interrior neons, a sec system, two 150w 6x9s, four 20/25w tweeters, a 600w amp, two 10' 800w dhd subs, two rockfordfosgate 3 1/2's, and two more speakers the same size that go into the kickpannels (have not yet looked into their sizes/wattage).  Now, after replacing both the alternator and battery in the last car, the above mentioned worked fine.  My question is, should I simply start out by replacing both Alt/Battery in the Beretta, or is there some way to connect a second alt/battery, or what logical thing I can do to provide the needed elec current to run everything?

Blah I talk alot, i'm sorry, but ANY information would be really helpful.  If you can, you can email me as well.  Thanks much!

1) for your relay, you need to wire it in the following configuration to change your (-) output on your aux channel to a (+) output for your trunk release.  Since I dont know what colors go to what terminals on your relay, i will give you just the terminal numbers

85 & 87 = 12 volts

86= (-) input from your aux wire on the brain

30= (+) output to your trunk release wire

2)My recomendation would be to replace your battery with an optima yellow top - but in all honesty that may not even be necessary.  From what you have provided, the only major piece of equipment you are running is your 600W amp - the speakers will only draw as much current as your deck can produce since it does not seem that you are running a 4 ch amp, and the neons and security system will draw minimally from your battery.  If the battery is in decent condition, a more sensible approach to replacing your battery and alternator would be to add a capacitor which will help regulate your voltage on deep bass hits and improve your overall SQ

Here is the basic schematic for your car
