Has anyone else heard the rumor that audiovox is replacing the CL100 with a new model and that they are only including 1 year of activation and then the customer will be required to pay a monthly/annual fee, vs. the current CL100 which includes LIFETIME activation and service?

According to Audiovox there isn’t any plans for a new model, they do offer a different model (APSCL100); but it’s still free for life.

that is the replacement part number for the old CL. I've spoken with people from audiovox directly and they have confirmed that it is no longer lifetime, and now it is 3 year included for free.

I spoke with Audiovox 11-29-2006, and they still stay that both models are offered currently, they came out within 8 months of each other, and that both are free for life. You can also check out the info posted on their site at this link. A friend of mine wrights white papers for them and he also uses the APSCL100 without any kind of payment plan.

I'm not sure I can't find the price either. I'll ask what the MSRP is.
