hey folks, having a problem working on a gm car with a side mount battery terminal,

the negative terminal comes off perfectly fine, but the positive side (funny enough the one needed for car audio) will not budge, it seems to just keep stripping and stripping no matter what i do to it, tried wrenches, vice grips, tried even clamping onto the larger attached washer of the terminal bolt, and still nothing will work.

what else can be done without ruining the bolt from being used again?

any help or ideas is greatly appreciated, thanks

Josh

The only thing I can say is be careful those posts are notorious for spinning right out of the battery and when that happens its new battery time. A few suggestions try to tighten it a little first then its generally easier to get out also try some wd40 or some penetrating oil on the post. hope this helps.

If I understand correctly, it refuses to turn? From the sounds of it, it's already stripped? Have you tried a vice grip and lightly tapping it with a hammer? Just make sure the threaded part in the battery doesn't turn because then you'll be in do-do. Can you cut the cable and put a splitter inline?
