I have a two beautiful deep cycles fishing battery that needs to be charge. Problem, my buddy has a top notch battery charger which I borrow once every while to keep it in perfect condition. He paid a lot of $$$ for it and this machine is amazing! It’s got lights, small print writing, and buttons all over it. It does pizza calls, calculator, internet surfing, washes the car, do the dishes and every thing you could imagine. That’s at least what my buddy tells me.   A few weeks ago someone walk into his garage at night and borrow it without letting him know when it will be return.    He is extremely upset and I am wiz because I don’t have anything to top up my fishing battery with.   For the time being he gave me a 1 amp charger with a 13.1V reading from Crappy Tire. Questions, will this affect the performance of my battery since it doesn’t have a management system to obsolete the charge and turn things off when it’s done charging? Yellow top and Tsunami have some literature saying something bla, bla, bla, bla, about not overcharging and at so and so voltage. Any battery expert here to give me some advice how long I should charge the battery for with 1 amp charger at 13.1 V reading.   Thanks.

P.s. If anyone saw someone in midnight hours walking around with a charger there is $100 reward. The borrower will be scold at when found.

The battery manufacturer will probably say something like the battery can be held at 13.6v forever.. once you get over 14.v you run the risk of overcharging the battery. For as small as your charger is, as long as you monitor the voltage you should be fine. I'd probably wire both batteries in parallel to charge, if it was me.
