does anyone here know how to intall an eq. i just bought a pioneer eq-6500. i was told i need to power it with an amp. is this right?
There are 4 basic connections to hook up on the wiring harness:
- Ground
- 12 volts contant
- 12 volt switched
- remote turn on
Attach these wires to the head unit and run the appropriate output RCA's to the back of the EQ and from there run the RCA's to the amps that power your system. You do not need an amp to power this unit. The EQ 6500 is only a sound field manipulator and does not require any more power than what the head unit will output

thanks man. thats what i figured too. but the harness has 2 blue wires a red and a black. the red and black are a give away, but what about the blues. one has a 0.5a fuse on it. which would that be
One is for remote turn on and the fused is the constant. Try this out and make sure that the EQ turns off when the radio turns off.

thanks so much. also the sony deck i am using only has one rca output and it says "rear speakers out". is this what i should use to run to the eq? i cant see any other options. also, what does the "remote" wire do. im an amature im sorry. where do i connect this.
Yes, you should use the RCA out's on the heads to run the eq, and then from the EQ to your amps. The remote out it used to turn on amplifiers and your eq when the stereo is on. It should be connected to your amp's remote terminal and to the Eq's non-fused blue wire.
