But my dh is at work and I am home with our repair manual......we are trying to find the location of our starter......we have a 1986 Dodge Caravan. Me at home with the book, I am thinking right under the battery, he at work no book, any guess......can someone help me??? Where is the starter located??

If it's a four cylinder, it's on the back side of the engine near the center of the vehicle.

BTW, if no one responds to your post within the first twenty minutes of you posting your topic and you feel the need to bump it and become disappointed when you bump is deleted, in the future, if you are that impatient for a reply, we suggest calling your local dealership and asking them.

the starter for that vehicle is in the front tord the bottom nere the oil pan but on the side of the motor block. Because the motor should be side ways because it is a front wheel drive truck.

I dont mean to be sarcastic but if you cannot crawl under the van and identify the starter, then maybe you should call someone to come over and help you.

The starter is on the bottom of the engine.
3.0l 6 cyl - middle, front near the motor mount.
2.xl 4 cyl - middle, back near the motor mount.
Be careful replacing it as a wire should be live even with the key off.
