I have been reading a hell alot of tutorials on alarms kill switches etc. They are all american based tutorials and all give an appropiate gauge wire to use. In the uk they dont list gauge wire so what is the equivalent to say 14 or 18 gauge wire. How do they find out. I presume its the size of the conductor area?

thanks shaun

Yes A.W.G. is determined by the area of the conductor.  How do they determine wire size in the U.K.?  I can tell you that for solid wire the diameter of     14 Ga. is .0630 inches or 3968.52 circular mills and   18 Ga. is .0397 inches  or 1574.91 circular mills.
