Just wondering if anyone else has had any issues with this.

For most of the wiring jobs I've done so far, i've used the wire purchased at the local auto parts stores, the "blister pack" ones.

Needless to say, after using this a few times, the wire is VERY cheap. the copper strands are stiff, hard to wrap around existing wire, and more difficult to solder. The wire itself is also not as flexible.

I've heard that "TXL" wire is the best to use in automotive areas. Where can i purchase this? I see PAINLESS sells packs of it, but it is VERY expensive to purchase it from them.

Hi,

'TXL" wire has a cross-linked polyethylene jacket, which is more resistant to oil, grease, gasoline etc. It also offers a higher temperature rating (125 C) as compared to PVC jacketed wire, more ideal for underhood usage. There are also "GXL" and "SXL" wire, TXL is described as extra thin wall, GXL thin wall, and SXL standard wall relating to insulation thickness. As for purchasing crosslinked wire, try www.delcity.net or www.waytekwire.com They do require minimum length purchases of 100' and 250' respectively.
