read ALL the answers before picking one even if you think you've come across the right answer before reading them all. Sometimes there are more than one correct answer and you need to pick the BEST answer.

Good Luck

If it is a computer based testing station, you can mark the questions you are not 100% on, then come back to them after you have answered all the questions. This is good to do, as while taking the test, your brain will start working better, & you may make a better "GUESS" at the ones you don't know at the end. Also, some questions are asked in different ways, & actually give the answer to other questions.

What I do, & I know they say it is wrong. But I get there early, & read some easy questions out of the study guide, just to get me thinking, & focused on the test....not the crapy directions & had to the place, or how the other driver pizzed me off ;)

focus on the basics when studying. Know how relays work, know what tools are used, know shop safety, and you should be ok.

I just took my Basic Installer exam a few weeks ago. It's a pretty simple test. The main thing is, when taking the exam, READ the questions, some of the questions are asked a little on the tricky side. Just make sure to study. Flip through the book 3 or 4 times. You should be alright.

remember, if solder and tape is an answer option.....  CHOOSE THAT ANSWER!!!!  and as stated above, know basic ohm's law, shop safety, proper tools, and the basics of a relay. read all the questions and answers thoroughly...  alot of the questions come from the book study guide, jsut worded differently. ive let my MECP expire, but im getting ready to re-certify  First Class MECP in about a month.
