installed an audiovox cruise control but can't get it to work, its wired up to work off tach signal only, wondered if anyone knows if the dip switch setting has to be on ECM or Coil when using the Mallory Hyfire 6 box, have it set to coil but was a little reluctant to start experimenting for fear of smoking something. Thanks

If it is reading a pulse from the coil then it is set to coil.  Actually I think it is reading the pulse from the reluctor coil in the distributor if that is what you have.

Thanks for the help offer, appreciate it. The unilite distributor uses a photo optic module to fire the plugs, the 6a box is a digital capacitive discharge unit, only wires that are, and supposed to be hooked to the coil are from the box, it has a seperate tach output wire coming out of the box, tach works fine, I have tried all the troubleshooting tips in the instruction manual, tried everything audiovox tech support has offered, but still no go.
I haven't had time to mess with it for the last week so its on the back burner for the time being, once I get back to it I,m gonna do some trial and error, I just thought someone might have had a similar experience using aftermarket ignition, gets spendy just experimenting, the module and cd box cost WAY more than the cruise unit and are easily smoked if I spark the wrong wire somewhere.
Thanks again.

Do you have the led lighting when the control buttons are pushed?

Make sure you have good supply voltage to it.

Where the servo is mounted I honestly can't see the LED if its lighting or not while pushing the control buttons, but I have checked voltages, used a test light probe and it lights at the servo when the switch, buttons ect. are pushed just as the manual states.
I have checked voltage at the fuse wire, pulled the purple wire from the brake switch and grounded it as tech support suggested.
All the dip switches are set according to the manual for operation with a manual trans with tach signal only, only variation is the control pad, it was replaced with a Rosta column mount switch which is a closed circuit type so the dip switch is set to that position.
I,m in the process of doing some engine work so the rig is out of running commission for the time being, but as soon as its back together I'll continue back on this project, trying different dip settings ect. to see if I can find a combo that works. I know its gonna, just have to find that right combo before I resort to the magnet kit, have the same setup on another rig and its worked great for several years, it has the unilite distributor also but no CDbox, so I,m thinking it might be something to do with that, its not getting a tach signal possibly. Thanks again, appreciate your help.
