Install in a 96 metro. Not working.

Led won't light. Voltage from switch to unit is in the 3.8 v range when pushing the switch buttons. The only wires I'm not sure about is tach and VSS. But getting the led to light is the main thing. So are the switch to vervo voltages correct? I have ignition 12 to the switch control and its on light will light okay. All non signal wires check okay. Like brake on and the hot wire ffom brake. So is the servo crap?

Tachometer BROWN / WHITE (-) AT COIL
Speed Sense YELLOW /GREEN (AC) PASS SIDE DASH OR BEHIND GLOVE

If there is a self diagnostic mode you should try it after all connections are verified.

from the company we install their units Rostra.com
VSS Wire: Location 2 Blue 10 or 12 Pin Con. to Left Side of ECM
VSS Wire Color: YELLOW /GREEN
VSS Pulse: 4000
VSS Tach Wire: Location 16 Coil
Tach Signal Wire Color: Brown
Brake Switch Positive: Yellow/White
Brake Switch Negative: GREEN / WHITE

Normally I ground the blue tach wire on our installs, try that as a last resort. Test ground for main unit, and double check all other connections.
DO NOT USE T-TAPS...SOLDER ALL CONNECTIONS

The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.
Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya

Well I got it working, I had a bad choice of ignition switched wire, it would only show about 3.5 voltls.

I can't check it at hiway speeds yet, too much traffic. But it surges alot at low speeds. I have the sensitivity on the lowest setting. Is that a bad idea?

You need to try the cruise at highway speeds first. Cruise controls are really only designed to work smoothly at highway speeds. Things to try if it still surges: check for good ground on cruise control, keep the cruise control throttle cable tight but not tight enough to increase the idle speed. If you pull back on the throttle and let it go, you should hear the sound of the throttle hitting the idle adjustment screw. Depending on which cruise control unit you have, keep any settings on the low scale (sensitivity and engine timer), check to see if all other settings are correct (speed pulse type - sine or square wave. Sine wave setting is for added speed sensor and square wave for tapping into computer VSS circuit.

Its the CCS-100, there is no adjustments for sine or square on the unit, since the shop manual mentions its a switch that sends VSS then its most likely a squareish pulse.

I put the sensitivity on medium, and did tighten the cable. Still haven't freewayed it yet but the 35 mph is much better.

If anyone is installing one of these in a Metro 96 on up I can give idea's. And no hole drilling. I did mount cable to the throttle body, and have not as yet tested at high loads etc. will let ya know.
