Hey everyone I am haveing some trouble with my audiovox ccs100 cruise control. I just installed the same unit in my girlfriends 2000 geo and works great but I cant seem to get the thing to work in my 86 vw vanagon. I have checked the leds and  the light blinks when it is sopposed to. I used the magnet setup in the geo and since it worked fine in that car I did that in the vanagon too. I hooked up everything the same and set the servo to same settings and NOTHING (set the sensitivity to high instead of med). I even checked all the wires at the servo and the 4 pin connector and everything is working as it should according to the manual. I have been told that the vaccum pressure is enough (but did order vaccum canister today) so that shoud not be the problem. I have spoke to the audiovox folks about 10 times and that has been little help. Thanks in advance.

Hey all so I figured out the inop cruise control problem.

So for anyone installing the audiovox cruise in a Volkswagin Vanagon (automatic, 1986, 2.1 ltr engine) heres what I did...

Servo-I set to 1-off 2-off 3-on 4-off 5-on 6-off 7-on (heavy car low power high setting). Attached Servo to left of center on rear of engine bay

Throttle-hooked up using flex cable type system. Had a little trouble getting it arranged so the servo would actually pull the throttle enough. It almost goes to floor  when engaged and so works fine.

MAGNET SETUP- IMPORTANT-used 2 magnets for trans axle. Before I had only onemagnet as I thought of the van as rear wheel drive but since it has a trans axle its more like a front wheel drive and so one must use 2 magnets. I wired them on and epoxyed the heck out of them(they go on oppisite each other see instructions).

Wiring-purple to left rear brake light wire (black with red stripe on it check with meter anyway though), Remove left tail light (4 screws pull out and look at wires)

blue-ground (left side of engine bay where ground comes off engine is where I put it

black-ground in same place as blue

Paired wires (black and grey)-put on magnet sensor it does not matter which way they are put on

green-yellow-brown extend about 12-15 feet (to be safe )and send under van. I put mine through the wire hole above the washer res.

orange-hooked up to a wire at rear fan switch. You can pop out the switch and easily attach scotch lock. Checked with tester first.

black on controler-get a good ground I used a spot on frame left of brake peddle.

grey off controler-hook up to light switch...have not done this yet as it is not necessary to work unit but looks cool if you put the controler in a visible spot.

Controler-i drilled a hole in metal left of steering column and mounted it. Its not easy to see but it only has 2 buttons so is simple and does not need to be visible.

**important**  When reprograming servo it must be unpluged for the computer to recogize the change

**Vaccum resviour tank may be necessary as it looses speed up hills...mine is on order so I will post later
