I am in the process of installing a new multifunction switch with cruise control. I have ordered the switch and am awaiting the package to be delivered. I am just trying to get a heads up on what i do need to install it. It is a 2005 silverado z71 automatic with the 4.8. It has no cruise control obviously. What do i need to do or hook up when i do need to do to install the new switch, such as wires. Thank you for any assistance in this matter.
All the wires are pre-run from factory. You will need to remove the torx screws holding down the OEM arm ( without cruise ) and just re-install the new arm with cruise and that's it. No flashing of the ECM/BCM required for this truck. It's a 15 minute installation. Re-install the steering wheel shroud and go for a test drive.

thank you for the help but where exactly are the wires. on the bcm by the steering column?
One thing is about this truck is if the OEM wires are pre-run to the steering column, you do not need to go to the back of the connectors. If the 4 pin cruise connector is not taped up by the steering column, then you must go to the connector as stated above. It's located to the left of the steering column where all the wires from the ignition switch run into.

i do thank you for all the help. I had to go to the back of the ignition switch as the wires were not run for this truck. i installed it and it works thank lord just in time to. Again thank you for the help.
I am new so forgive me if I repeat ,I have read the forms on chevy Cruse control As I understand it I can use an OEM turnsignal arm with cruise attributes and replace my old arm /WO c.c.. Tie into the wiring already in the vehicle, 2006 Chevy 2500 6.6 L. Duramax diesel classic body, the truck is drive by wire. I have the post reply below. Is this the same for my truck?
2004-2006 & (classic 2007) GM saved 5˘ per non cruise contol equiped truck by leaving off the 4 wires and plug in the upper steer column harness.
You need to connect the trucks lower steering column harness wires to the Cruise handle wires.
This is how it is done.
Handle.............Truck’s wire
1) BLUE.......... B1 Gray/Black
2) BLACK........ B10 Blue
3) Pink............ A2 Pink
4) Gray............ B32 Gray
Make your extensions about 12" long.
The A2, B12 etc markings are on the back side of the truck's connector.

Sorry I have been out of the install game for awhile, forgive me. Does this mean that you can add CC to this vehicle by just adding the CC control switch?? No more vacuum lines, or mounting cables to the throttle body?

Yes, but you do need the proper OEM arm for the truck.
