The only clue here is to "think Audi"

Not sure but look at the wheel speed sensor or off the transmission. Just a start...

I believe the VSS is digital on the vehicle and is only accessible through the network. I'm not sure if there is an adaptor available for this car to generate a VSS.

I've just looked on the sites of two specialist UK CAN adaptor manufacturers and they go from Kia to Lancia (whatever they were) to Landrover. also an Italian site purporting to show analogue colours and positions. In your position I would look at the wiring to see if it's recognisably Audi, i.e. Black or BLACK/ blue for ignition, RED / black for starter, yellow red between ign switch and fusebox for ACC etc.etc. If it is get the CAN adaptor for the equivalent year's Audi, at worst you've laid out $X, which with this car I'm sure the customer can handle and you won't do any damage, the adaptors are well buffered. Just out of interest, if the factory radio uses ISO leads, look to see if the lower (power plug) has a WHITE/ blue lead at one end and if the radio is marked "GAL" or "GALA" at that pin. That would be the last VAG analogue (although I think the change was 2001) and the WHITE/ blue is the one. If not you've got to go to the CAN wires, NOT the pair going into the radio. Pick up at 6high and 14low on the OBD socket.

Thanks for all the help guys! I am repairing a botched up install, they used magnetic pickups on the drive shaft. I would feel better using VSS if possible. Ill let you know how it goes.

Ok guys, I used a magnetic signal generator on the drive shaft and was able to get a signal. The problem is I have no cruise. I have installed many of these units, but never on a Lambo. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Stu.
