I have installed a 2005 V10 from an F250 into my 97 f150, I kept the drive by wire throttle body and my original 97 transmission and transfer case for now. I would like to hook up the cruise control on this. From what I am seeing in the alldata wiring diagrams one wire runs all the functions, at different ohm values.

These values are very different on the two. Is there a way to change these values in the wheel? Am I going to need to see if I can make a 2005 wheel to fit. Or an aftermarket system?

I did all the wiring on this install myself and used a transmission controller to shift the transmission. I am not an expert in resistors and ohms and such, but I do like challenges.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks

Bryan

The cruise switch is multiplexed as you mentioned. Do you have all the required values for each function?

Is the 97 a stalk mount Cruise and Steering wheel controls on the 2005?

The top is the 05, the bottom is the 97. Both controls are steering wheel, and the wheels look alike.

Biggest difference in the spec change in 2005 was a stand alone Cruise control input to the PCM via two wires. Cruise signal and return. Looks like in 97 the cruise circuit was not isolated from the rest of the steering wheel controls. At least not at first glance.

What are the chances of fitting the 2005 controls to the 97 steering wheel? Overall it looks like the functions are still sharing the same button, (Coast - Set/Accell) and (Resume) and (On / Off) but on/off looks different to me between the two model years.

Is opening the switch and changing resistor values a possibility??

hi,

so if the switch assemblies look alike, can you swap the '97s for the '05s?  use the leads marked by the A and B in the '97 wheel, have those connect to the two wires on the switch assembly in the 05'.

the clockspring may not be the same between the two wheels...may be hard to swap.

I will try and get a wheel and just change the buttons, I looked at a 1 ton last night and they look identical.
