i am having issues with my girlfriends cruise control on her 2000 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo with the 4.0L. i have never had a issue figure something like this out in my 10years of being in a shop. i was wondering if someone might have any ideas of the issue. the cruise light turns on but it will not set. ive traced wires and cant find no brakes. on the info center it says the jeep has a open circuit i have ran a diagnostic on it several times. the first time i ran it it threw 10 codes. 4 of them was saying all four of the abs are failing. one code said the ecm had a internal malfunction. i cant remember the other 5 codes but the ecm one stood out. after i cleared the codes it never poped back up but i still have alot of issues including the open circuit code. can anyone give me any insight in the cruise issue or the issue with the open circuit. is it the ecm failing? in reality? thanks for you time

The cruise control uses the pulses from the ABS to determine speed of the vehicle. If they are not working it can not control speed.
