The cruise control in my 1997 Honda Accord cannot be engaged until the car is going ~30mph.  Is there anyway to a) remove this speed minimum (so the cruise control acts like a throttle), or b) lower the speed minimum so it can be engaged at, say, 20mph?

Thanks to anyone who can help

No, there is nothing to remove and you can not make it engage at a lower speed. You'll also find that there is a maximum speed at which it will engage. This is typical of all cruise controls.

As of now, there is no way to change the setting. It all works on pulses from the VSS. If you can find a way to FAKE pulses to make the unit THINK it's at 30+, when its actually at 20, then that would work, THEORETICALLY.

If the signals are RESISTANCE based, that's very doable with an adjustable resistor (POT), but you would have to figure it all out.

If it's an OEM unit, don't even try that, because the ECM uses those pulses for other things, the SPEED and REV limiter also.

If it's an AFTERMARKET unit, you have to splice into the VSS anyway, so maybe someone will think of a way to fake the pulses. . .
