I have a 2000 Ford Ranger that the cruise has stopped working. A remote start was added to the vehicle and everything was fine until suddenly the remote stopped working. I believe the problem is electrical. I don't know where to start trouble shooting.

When you installed the REMOTE starter, you have to use the Tac/VSS signal so the unit knows the engine is running, and releaces the starter. IF that is the case, you are loosing the signal to the ECM, so cruise won't work. However, you should be getting a check engine light too. . . Also, he cool side effect of that is, your SPEED/REV limiter may also be removed. . .   It is electrical in this case, you need to get the signal back to the ECM.
