Is only a new arm required for the steering column or do I need to install a control unit?  My pickup is a basic work truck.

You will have to install both a lever and a cruise control unit in your truck.

Depending on the brand you buy, the control lever or module is steering column mounted or it will be a dash mounted control unit.
