Is it possible to install cruise control in a car having an electronic throttle system? as you know there is no cable for the accelerator pedal it just wire going on from the pedal to the throttle actuator. If yes, what is required to install the system? How the elect throttle works? Any sensor is mounted on the elect throttle? When you press on the accelerator pedal, an electronic signal will go through the hard wire to the computer (ECM) and from there a signal will go to the actuator to open the valve according to the desired speed. Is this theory correct or is not? I studied rostra cruise control… it seems I need to know: 1- VSS and Tach signals. 2- Use these to parts :Part # 250-1223 – Electric and Part # 250-3742 switch Connect the wires to the right pins and power. Then I can drill a hole beneath accelerator pedal; connect the cable of the rostra: Part # 250-1223 to the pedal by a screw and nut. Note: adjust the cable carefully so you will not affect the original movement of the pedal. for example i have an altima 2004 2.5 s , its come without cruise control. sorry for the previous message

On most DBW(drive by wire) cars, cruise control is a function of the ECM(engine control module). For example, on 1999.5 and newer DBW VW cars, all one had to do to add cruise is change stalk, run 3 wires out to the ECM, pin the ECM connector, go in with the VAG 1551 or VAG-COM scan tools and turn the cruise "on". Simple procedute, $200 worth of parts from VW, and approx. 2.5hrs to do.
I would immagine that Nissan will be very similar... Honda can be done with the above method as well, from what I understand.

DBW , this is new thing to me so let me explain it in my way... You ment that i have to activate the pins in the ECM unit. so i don't need any hardware except the switch on the steering ( cruise switch). which 3 wires is going from the swtch to the ECM. right or not? the diffuclt part here how I can activate these pins,it could be just by connecting the 3 wires directly to the right pins in the ECM. Do I need to use a special scan tool like VAG1551? Do you have more information about this subject or do u know someone on the web can help me. I will appreciate this help from you Gus. waleed

Okay. I used a VW specific case, and it involves 3 wires, as it is. As far as Nissan goes... check out a Nissan Specific repair/enthusiasts forum. Someone on there will have retrofitted a factory cruise somewhere along the line, or at least knows how.
Drive By Wire systems do not use a cable to control the throttle body. Instead, there is a variable resistor attatched to the pedal assembly, which, in turn, sends a control voltage to the ECM. The ECM interprets this contol voltage into a throttle position, and therefore, changes the amount of air/fuel entering the motor by it's own means . It is more accurate, and enables the drivetrain to work more efficiently. Retrofitting a cable pull type of cruise onto a DBW system can be difficult to do, the easiest way is to use either OEM parts, or to use a hardwire cruise contoller(if such a thing even exists... been awhile since I have actually donbe a cruise contol)

On cars without a throttle body you can still do the "pedal pull" type cruise control as your mentioning. A lot of the newer cars the area around the gas pedal is even tighter than usual which doesn't help. Also some of the new cars have adjustable pedals so keep an eye out for that as well. If there is a way to intergrate a cruise with the ECM, your going to need some type of custom parts or a vehicle specific kit if available. From the sounds of it you have a universal kit so your going to need to do all the work ;) With that said I don't have any experience putting a cruise on an altima, so I can't be of much help. U might want to call Rostra and ask if any installer has done this car before. I have been using Rostra when they were known as DANA. They have a lot of Installer feedback, but when they don't recommend the Install, your on your own.
Some of the DBW vehicles R to "touchy" for pedal pull, because of the pull from the servo can not react as quick and U will have wasted money & time
