I have a 1992 Honda Prelude Si 2.3L  with a manual transmission.  My cruise control recently quit working.   When I select cruise on the green cruise light illumunates for a few seconds and the cruise engages for about 2 - 5 seconds and then disengages.  It acts as if the cruise cannot maintain the speed.

I 've tried engaging the cruise while trying to maintain the speed with the accelerator but again it disengages within the first few seconds.  I have even accelerated to a speed faster than set and still no luck.  Took it to Honda dealership they carged me $100.00 to tell me it was the clutch switch.  I replaced it with a new switch and it still doesn't work.  Checked all fuses brake lights all the known obvious problems.

Does anyone have an idea?  Or any troubleshooting thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Bill

This happened to me with my Accord. I replaced the cruise computer with another one and it worked fine afterwards.
