Dears I have a Nissan Primera 2.2 TDi 126 CV years 2002 (diesel engine) I would like to install a cruise control kit by rostra. In particular the kit 1223 electric. The throttle is completely electronic, it's a potentiometer so I will install the electric servo directly on the throttle pedal. My question is: I liked the following kit 250-1223 with RF switch 250-1588 https://www.mnrelectronics.com/roscruiscon.html (please look to the link) Can You suggest me if is the right choice? thanks in advance

I just installed that exact combination into a Civic the otherday. The RF controller is spcifically designed to fit the Civic's steering wheel for mounting, but it works on virtually any vehicle. You just have to be creative with the mounting of the switch.

The 1223 won't work too well, as the car is DBW (Drive by wire). There is no throttle to pull, essentially. You may be in luck, however. You say the car is a TDI, correct? I do know on the VW TDI's, it is quite easy to change the siganl stalk to one with cruse, and, using the appropriate harness, wire it into the car. Then, you need to "tell" the ECU (engine control unit) that the car now has cruise. The computer then enables the cruise control, and away you go. We've done this on several 2000 and newer VW TDI cars and it works excellently. The best thing is, it uses all factory parts! There may be a Nissan specific forum that is more geared technically towards these kinds of modifications.

Hi gus1 This issue was my first problem... if the car is drive by wire how can I install a cruise control? But the answer is enough simple. I will install the electrical servo to move the pedal directly instead of my foot. So the ECU will not know the car has a cruise control system but it's not necessary to involve the ECU! If I'm not correct please let me know.

Looked at the potentiometer assembly of my TDI Jetta Wagon (or... Bora Variant if you wish) over the week-end to see what it would be like to try and attatch a cable pulled cruise onto it. Not too easily. I would really look into seeing if there is an OEM solution. I have done several VW drive by wire cruises, and the only thing we have to do is change the stalk from a non cruise to a cruise stalk, run the appropriate harness (available from VW), and pin the necessary positions on the ECU connector. Plug in the VAG-COM scanner, enable cruise, and you are done..... maybe 1.5hrs total. Works wonderfuly, and looks totally stock (well... it is all stock pieces) There should be a Nissan technical forum that may know what is entailed.

Need to be a member, but they may have an answer, and it is European. I believe the Primera is very very similar to the Sentra over here, and I haven't seen an aftermarket cruise solution that actually works on those yet.
