Vehicle is four door 2001 Toyota ECHO with a five speed manual transmission and 1.5l engine.
About to tackle a cruise (Audiovox CCS-100) and would like the advice of those more knowledgable. Location and colour of VSS and tach wires. Both are needed for this vehicle?
Switch setting to VSS+tach? Pulses for VSS are 4000?
Is this vehicle likely to need a vacuum canister?
How should this unit be mounted? Horizontal, cable facing down/up? Should this cable be lubed before installation. I have had issues in the past with sticking cables.
Thanks to all for your assistance.

Rostra has a throttle adaptor for this car which I strongly encourage you to purchase. The VSS wire is easily found on the passenger side of the dash. At the bottom edge of the dash is a black plastic cover which when you pop it off reveals the engine computer plugs. Here you will find the PURPLE / white VSS wire in the first or second plug in from the driver's side. I would also recommend that you purchase a 250-3172 clutch switch from Rostra. It will screw into an existing bolt location. Install the clutch switch in series with the violet brake switch wire and set the cruise for automatic transmission. There will be no need to hook up the tach wire. This set up will make the cruise work very well. The best source of vacuum in that car is to tap into the vacuum line going to the brake booster. You will need a large vacuum tee for this, but it's the only good source of vacuum available for the cruise.
