Use the Rostra link on this site for VSS and tach info. They list all the wires and locations you need.

Is this located under the hood on the driver's side fender? If it is then mine has a black, gray, and white plug going to it. Which then is the VSS wire?. Also, can I get the tach wires and the rest of the connection points here ? Thanks any and all for your assistance!

The BCM (Body Control Module) is attached to the left of the fusebox.Connector 1 is a gray 26 pin plug, and connector 2 is a gray 22 pin plug. The wire is Light GREEN/ YELLOW found in connector 1 pin 20.

Hello all... anyone familiar with the installation of the Rostra Signal Adapter #250-4369 for my 2003 Jeep Liberty? It has some instructions for the Red, Green, Yellow, and Black wires, but, specifically the VSS In/Out. Do I still piggyback on the VSS wire or do I cut it, making the GREEN/ In connection and Yellow/Out connection? Thanks for any help.

Now I'm told that some "2003" Jeep Liberty's use 2002 wiring. Those don't need the250-4369 signal adapter (8,000 pulses on the VSS). If the "2003" model has the 2003 wiring in it,it has 72,000 ppm and DOES need a signal adapter. Rostra tech support not very helpful but mentions something about the number of plugs going to the ECM. The dist. I used to get the cruise says yes, Rostra says no. Any ideas??? Thanks.

Use the red (power) and black (ground), then your yellow and green are your VSS hookups. I can't remember which is which, but what you are going to do is tap the input wire to your VSS wire from the vehicle, then the output to your Grey wire on the cruise (VSS input for the cruise).

On the Rostra system what exactly do the "GAIN"(Sensitivity), and "ENGINE/SET UP TIMER" settings reflect... what's the differences in the range when you go from extra low to extra high?

The gain control determined how quickly a change of the vehicles speed is noticed. The engine set up timer is how fast it reacts to that change. Use the mid gain setting which is default and choose the lowest engine set up timer setting for your correct engine size. Please note that any changes in the dip switches, will not take affect unless the cruise control switch and the ignition switch are both turned off first. Make sure that there is NO slack in the cruises throttle cable, but not so tight as to increase the engines idle speed.

Thanks Sparkie for your reply. I just installed the Rostra 250-1223 and 250-3742 switch on my 2003 Jeep Liberty. I had the GAIN set to High (choices of Extra Low, Mid, High) and ENGINE/SETUP TIMER set to Extra High (choices of Low, High, Extra High). On my test ride home it seem to surge and if the speed dropped because of a hill, it would then accelerate quite rapidly to "catch up". There's just a hair of slack in the cable. You think I should go with the MID gain setting and LOW engine/setup timer? Thanks again for your help.

Yes. Use those settings and the cruise should work very smooth.

Thanks again Sparkie for your help... I've adjusted the settings and the cruise is nice and smooth. I'm impressed with the quality and performance of this unit thus far. I just hope the durablity of the unit is good, and it lasts, because it's some nice piece of equipment.

Just a short note to let anyone interested know as it turns out the 2003 model year had a 3-plug ECM which uses the 2002 instructions and a 4-plug ECM which uses the 2003 instructions and needs the signal adapter. The VSS wire in my case (2002 instructions) is off the gray plug on the ECM (engine compartment, driver's side)-dark GREEN/ YELLOW tracer. The throttle used the snap on adapter (included in the #250-1223 kit). The servo mounted off the fender between the brake master cylinder and the battery (as if it belonged there!). Cable routing from there was perfect. Wires routed through a 1/2" hole I drilled in the firewall slightly up and left of the accel. cable position. A little shaving of the "ears" on the snap-in throttle cable anchor and it slid in on the existing bracket right next to the existing accel. cable. The #250-3742 handle (left side mount) looks like it belongs on the steering column with the other two stalks. I'm embarrassed to tell you how long it took me- I worked much too slowly- but then again it's my vehicle!!! Anyway, I just wanted to thank you again for your help.
