My '01 Silverado doesn't have cruise. In the service manual it shows that all the system consists of is the module out on the firewall that has the actuator right in it, and the switch on the stalk. A connector off the main harness plugs into the module and the switch plugs in on the column. My question is this to anyone: Is the wiring already there for these peices or does GM put completely different harnesses in based on equipment in the build-sheet. The aftermarket Audiovox seems good enough but I keep hearing about needing to hang on the set button for up to five seconds before it locks. After that it seems that they perform beautifully, but if the wirings already there then what could be better than factory. Just a thought.

Normally the wiring is not present unless the option is there however that is not always the case. what I would do is check around the areas that the factory unit is supposed to be and see if any harnesses are just taped up out of the way.

Thanks. Yes! Definately the wires are there. That's the good news, the bad? I priced out the unit and the stalk at the dealership, very, very expensive. Junk yards are probably a good bet, but these days they know what these things bring. Looks like Chevy puts the complete harness in its cars. I gotta say, coming off Lexus and Honda, I'm more and more impressed with this vehicle.

If you have the V6 you need a complete kit. If not, and there's no traditional throttle body, you just need the handle and the wiring only comes to the back of the junction block under the dash.
