What is the best value in an after market cruise control (inexpensive but works good and is straight forward to install) for a 1996 Honda Civic DX automatic transmission? Are there other considerations, such as vacuum vs electric? I'll most likely have the installation done at my local auto repair shop.

Let me ask a more specific question. If I bought an Audiovox CCS-100 for this 1996 Honda Civic DX would it work? JC Whitney says the unit won't work in Hondas. But in Yahoo Answers a guy said that in 2004 Honda started putting in a chip that is incompatible with aftermarket cruise controls. So I figure for 1996 I'm OK. Does anyone know for sure?

I've installed many cruise controls in Hondas with no problem. The hardest part is getting to the VSS wire. All of those plugs above your fuse block, its in there. Second row, the hardest plug to reach. The one at the end. I usually unplug it an get it down where I can work with it.

Now I dont know about Audiovox, I dont use that brand, but I have never had a single problem with Hondas
