Just wanted to give you guys a heads up on the VSS wiring in mazda miatas with manual transmissions. There is no VSS wire in this vehicle but you  do not have to do a pulse generator. If you pull the instrument cluster out of the vehicle you will see a set screw on the back of it labeled RSW. This is your VSS wire. You simply need to attach a ring terminal to the VSS wire you are installing and screw it down with the set screw. Works perfectly.

thanks for the reply, I appreciate your input.... I would not have posted this information if there was a VSS wire in the drivers kick. every resource I looked at said the VSS wire was in the Drivers kick, just like you posted. The vehicle I was working on had a MANUAL transmission and there was no VSS in the kick. The location I posted is the only location in SOME Miata's to get VSS. Next time please don't be a smart ass in your responses, I was trying to help people. It is possible that some of us do know what we are doing.

Wish I would have read this before trying to install the Rostra control.  94 Miata with a standard and NO there is no controler by your kick panel with a RED / Green wire.

Went on the back of the instrument cluster and pulled it off the screw like you suggested and works perfect.

Also a quick note, the Rostra intall sheets suggested pulling the tach wire from the Diagnostic Connector.  Well that would be just fantastic, but SOME Miatas didnt come with a factory wire to the connector.  Had to pull it off the back of the intrument cluster AND, the correct wire for it was the BLACK/ White wire.

I hope this helps anyone else who is having problems.
