Rookie status should lose the quote function, IMO.  Too many times new users rely on it continuously throughout the thread, even if only one responder is answering.  Maybe some of them don't realize they can just type into the post reply box.  The thread becomes difficult to navigate through with quotes and quotes-within-quotes all over the place.

The problem with that is some of them use it to quote other posts if they actually used the search function.  Maybe a general post at the top with some info on forum etiquette would be a good idea.

Quoting a passage from another thread after using the search function would require more than just pressing the posted_image.  This function will only quote from the same thread.  More aware and refined users who are accustomed to these forums will use this feature sparingly, and when they do use it will often quote only the most pertinent portion of a previous post.  New users usually quote the whole answer, and some of them seem to use this feature in order to get a reply box.  And in most cases it's the answer just previous to their next question, which isn't at all necessary to do.  If the quote function would become available when they become a standard member they might then have enough awareness to use it judiciously.

Maybe this will help without removing the quote button. I've added the post reply button next to the quote button.

How 'bout that.  That looks like a solution and will also save you from "Why can't I quote..." questions.  I like how you made it look like first priority.  Thanks for your consideration, 12volt!
