Hi i'm just about to install Fatmat xtreme sound deadener and had a couple of questions before I lay anything down. First, when doing my doors, should I first seal the big openings that lead inside the door frame w/ some kind of plastic like it was factory and then lay down the deadener over the entire door? Any tips for a first time sound deadener install? Of course I'm going to clean all areas that I will be applying to very well w/ soap and water, then let dry, and finish cleaning all surfaces w/ rubbing alcohol.

thanx

im a noob at the above also and car audio in general. i just started to put fatmat in my trunk i used 409 watered down to clean my trunk and this worked well. im starting on my 2nd app in the trunk. as far as the doors. ive removed all the wiring and mounting plugs. im working on a 1984 caddy elderado which by far is easier to work on then the newer cars. my plan was to wrap around any holes and overlap the holes on the back side. basic reason for this is if i need to replace a door motor etc i need to get to it. like i said im a noob at this is just what im doing. then ill make sure i can get to any screws etc by cutting a small x on them. then remount all the wiring. ive removed the factory plastic molding for the wiring and used. heater hose to cut down on any sound issues. lol yeah heater hose. i also tapped the power arm for the door lock and the act arm for the lock assmbl also these really vibrate alot. i drove my car for a few days with out door panles to find out what shakes when driving i was very surprised to say the least.

I can tell you that your install will go so much quicker, easier, and smoother if you have one of those dynamat rollers, or something similar to that. Otherwise, you'll be spending hours upon hours pressing down on every inch of the deadener with your thumbs. posted_image

Fry: And then the battle is not so bad?
Soldier: Oh, right. I forgot about the battle.
