I own a 1993 Ford Escort and the hood is plain. It is just a flat straight hood. The aftermarket hoods are the same thing just in carbon fiber. I want to mold a hood with some heat extractors, lines, and such. So how should I go about molding a hood?

Nope, but I think I have the concept of fiberglassing and my brother has fiberglassing experience. I just want to give my car a tuner look considering its a mazda engine in it.

Are you building on existing hood or do you mean building a complete hood from fiberglass hood from scratch ?

I would use playdough to get it to the shape and size you looking for then lay fiberglass & resin over it And no the resin will not stick to playdough it will pull right out. I have use this process alot I just used it to repair a

74 Corvette's front air dam It hit a cat  but I just molded playdough to follow the contoure of the air dam laid the f-glass over  pulled out putty put couple of layers over back side the owner could not tell where the repairs were even done.

I will explane a little better model clay works best you can get it by the brick from most hobbie stores cheap

it can be shaped easly and smoothed easly with water once you have it shaped let it dry a little in the sun about an hour just to burn of excess water if used. Then spray with primer about 3 good coats will work this

layer will stick to the fiber glass when clay is removed to give back side a finished look not nesary but looks

nice. Its really easy to do you can make some really complex shapes with this process the clay can be molded very quickly and easly. Hope this helps take you time it will look great
