I am trying to modify a pillar for my truck, and need to fill a couple of gaps between the stock pillar and the pod that I want to attach.  The pod will be removable and doesn't fit perfectly.  My question is will resin adhere to the edge of the stock plastic of the pod to fill the gap.  I really don't want to add matting as this is a relatively small gap of less than 1/4".  I thought of using filler but think that with it being thin and on the edge it will be very brittle.  So, will resin stick to a roughed up plastic or should I epoxy it and sand it down?

it would have to be very, very rough for figerglass to stick. you are much better off using epoxy. get one that is made specifically for plastic and can be painted. there is a brand called "DURAMIX"  and they make several different ones for your application.
