Well Ive decided to remove a vent in my dash. Not generally a big deal except I need to make a cover for it, but not just a cover, one that will let me put a couple of temp displays and LEDs in it.

My problem is I'm not sure how to make it flush mount (or blend it in) and still leave it removeable so I can get at the displays and such if I need to.

I tried using a piece of plexi from a picture holder, you know those plastic sheets folded in half to slide a picture into.
This was brittle and broke when I tried to insert the displays.

What Can I do to make a panel (1/16" thick) that won't break/shatter, and how can I go about flushing it and blending it in? Or keeping it looking like a panel, but like it belongs there.

ummm... I've already removed the bezel, so the dash is basically all uncovered.

I'm only concerned with the bezel. Ideally what I would like to have it a panel like a blanking panel that has clips on it so I can just clip it in, or remove it if need be, but I don't want it recessed.

I can make a plastic panel, but blending it in nicely is another story. The edges will never fit perfectly or match the contour of the corners so it would definitely look man made.

I'm considering just making a panel with the needed holes cut, and using body filler to make it permanent. then I would need to remove the bezel again to get anything behind it.

this is a tough one for sure.... I'll try and get a pic as soon as I can.

here is a pic of what the panel looks like that I'm trying to modify. This isn't my car, but it has the same dash.

The vent above the climate controls has been covered, and thats the one I'm making the panel for to put in the temp. displays, USB. Line-in, and 4 LEDs.
