If this is your first fiberglass box I would go with a sealed enclosure that matches the volume of space your subs need. If you need any tips on how to do It I have a few posts showing some boxes I have built and I'm sure there are plenty of other users that have done the same.  What equipment do you plan on running?

This will not be my first fiberglass enclosure. I got 3 alpine type R 12
havent decided on the amps and caps yet. Would a ported be the best?

If you can get the volume on the box right for the port size then I'm sure it will sound just fine. I dont know how to figure out how large the port should be though. If you are going for pure bass and less sound quality I think a ported box will be louder. If you want to to be more crisp but not hit as hard I would go sealed. It all depends on what you want it to sound like I guess. Hope this helps.

If figuring out the box volume is your only concern, read the following.  https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=115452&KW=i+am+an+idiot#560642

If you do build the box, make sure you angle the woofers toward the front of the vehicle.  It will not sound good at all if you fire them straight up into the rear end of the liftgate.  You can get around 6 Cu. Ft in that car using MDF.  You have to go to the bottom of the well, take up the entire well, and most of the area behind the rear seat.  Above info is only if your car is not equipped with the automatic trunk closer.  I think they started putting that in the cars at 88.

what are your plans to figure out the volume of the box? I think the easiest would be the packing peanuts....? Well take photo's as you build your box and let us know how its going along. Thanks

lol yeah i was about to just throw it away a month or so ago. i was thinking of fiberglassing the whole well of my trunk for my box but if i have too much air space what would be the best way to take some of it away?

If you do put expanding foam in an enclosure, be very careful.  It may expand more than you think it will.  Apply it in conservative portions until you notice how much it expands.  That stuff is capable of destroying an enclosure.

Very true but you can shave off until it is to the right air space then put fiber glass over it so the foam will not vibration apart. There is a lot of kinds you can get 1x,2x,4x expanding for small holes to very big gaps. It will be a good sound blocker as well. But make sure you do be careful because the foam does get all over the place and it might go where you don't want it.
