heres the question ive been looking for along time for like 3 years now and now im gonna ask since i cant find it here,, does it affect tuning freq of the box if the port is sticking out of it??? i mean if a box needs 20" long port and i have 16" inside and 4 out side does that mean i have 20" or just 16" ( i hope this makes since)

the  amount of volume that the port inside the box takes up should not be included in the box volume number.

so if your port is going to be inside the box, the box probably needs to be that much bigger to be correct.

some software will take this into consideration, some doesnt.

box volume is an ingredient for port tuning along with other factors.

if you took a port that was inside the box and moved it outside the box it would change the box volume and would effect the tuning.

since you are only sticking it out 4 inches of 20. it might not matter much.

how did you figure your box volume/port tuning in the first place?

i use to design everything by hand so between that and winisd and aj vent so i went with the medan and it was only about .5 in off from mine and .25 of winisd  thats how i came about it

i was just wondering if you calcs were based on the port in or out and how hard it would be to run the numbers each way and figure what the end would be for each and go from there.

the ports is only taking up about .28cu ft then if its right then it would only change by like .05 internal box volume total if my box was 2.95 cu ft then it would only go up to 3 cu ft
