Looked around and didn't find any threads about furniture. Anyone interested?

I'm trying to make this form-

I have this mold which you can see here with a bag drawn over it-

Here is the female part, there is a tolerance of .5" between the male and female sections to account for material-

For the first lay up i'm planning on:
-waxing down the mdf
-covering the mold with some drop cloth (polypropylene sheeting)

For the first lay up i'm planning on:
-waxing down the mdf
-covering the mold with some drop cloth (polypropylene sheeting)
-coating 3 sheets of carbon fiber with resin and laying them over the mold one at a time
-covering the lay up with another sheet of drop cloth
-pulling the vacuum

does this sound about right?

for doing a fiberglass iteration, I was wondering if how I can get a smooth gel coat surface on both sides of the piece? is this possible or do i skip the gel coat and just prime and paint both sides when i'm finished?
