Building a single sub MDF enclosure with a fiberglass top, would like to add two slot ports (one on either side of the box).

My question is.. My MDF slot ports will be 1.25" wide, the MDF used is 9" x 11" x 3/4" thick.
Now do I subtract just the MDF used only -(as it is a support), or do I need to subtract the airspace within the port also (as if the whole port area was a solid object)?

If the slots you are building are inside the enclosure then you will need to subttact the entire volume of the slot including mdf if you are trying to calculate final enclosure volume.
