Folks-
I am looking for a lockable center console idea- whether it's COTS or DIY, big enough to hold a sidearm and spare magazines.
It all comes down to, sometimes when I am doing side jobs, I work in Doctor's offices and such- and being armed in that sort of place would get me in trouble, quick. Police can carry in a Doctor's office- civilians can't.
So I need a lockable area to hold my sidearm and magazines whilst I'm working.
Actually, now that the law's changed, I can also secure my weapon under-seat. It used to be illegal to stash a weapon under the seat, even with my having a license to carry. I'd prefer something bolt-in, but was already planning on building a center console, but I don't have more than the basic idea.
Thoughts?

What's the vehicle? Depending on vehicle, there are COTS available, or even modifying the right "universal" could work.

I ended up going with a "Vertically Driven Products" upholstered steel console made for Jeeps. Works perfectly, and is about as secure as you're apt to find.
At some point I will go with a box built into the floorboard, but for now this checks the box and gets the job done.
