I was curious about glassing my sub-woofer box...is it possible. would the carpet-like material work just like fleece or fiberglass mating? I was thinking about mixing up some resin and brushing it on and doing the body-filler thing just like normal, but i didnt know if the fabric that is wrapped around the box would work. any suggestions would be helpful!

Hey,

I am not expert but You are goign to have to strip the carpet off the box and then you can make a mold of it. If I were you I would keep your MDf board under it so it still sounds good.

Hope that helps

There is no reason to glass an already made MDF box, unless for strength. Glassing a box is usually done to mold to odd shapes and make objects that wood cant form.

dream it, build it, fiberglass it

The material will work, are you just wanting the smooth, painted look instead of the carpeted box? It will work, any material that can soak up resin will work, you may want to get some fiberglass cloth and make even strips all the way around, this will help to keep the box smooth, and even, also strengthening it a little more.
